If we need to consult contracted service providers for individual functions of our website or use your data for advertising purposes, we will explain the processes involved in detail below. This information also specifies the criteria established with regard to the duration of storage.

The collection of personal data when you visit our website

When you solely use our website for informational purposes and therefore do not register or provide us with information in any other way, we only collect the personal data that your browser transmits to our server.

If you want to view our website, we collect the following data, which we require in technical terms in order to show you our website and guarantee its stability and security (pursuant to Article 6 paragraph 1 sentence 1 lit. f GDPR as the legal basis):

    • IP address
    • Time and date of your request
    • Time-zone difference to Greenwich Mean Time (GMT)
    • Content of your request (the concrete web page requested)
    • Access status / HTTP status code
    • Data volume transmitted
    • Website from which the request stems
    • Browser
    • Operating system and its user interface
    • Language and version of your browser software

Alongside the collection of the data specified above, we also store cookies on your computer when you use our website. Cookies are small text files that are stored on your hard drive and allocated to the browser that you are using. The party responsible for storing the cookie (in this case us) uses it to access specific information. Cookies are unable to run any programs or transmit viruses to your computer. They are used to make the website more user-friendly and efficient on the whole.

The following text provides information on the collection of personal data when you use our website.

    Your rights

You have the following rights against us with regard to your personal data:

    • Right to rectification or erasure
    • Right to restriction of processing

These data include your name and address, company details and contact details such as your e-mail address and telephone number.

    Comments and posts

When users publish comments or other posts in the blog, their IP addresses are saved. This is necessary to safeguard the provider in the case that a user publishes illegal content (insults, prohibited political propaganda, etc.) in comments and posts. In such cases, the provider itself can be prosecuted for the comment or post and is therefore interested in the identity of the author.

    Use of Cookies

This website uses the following types of cookies, the scope and functions of which are explained below:

    • Transient cookies (cf. a)
    • Persistent cookies (cf. b)

    a) Transient cookies are automatically deleted when you close your browser. Session cookies are a particularly common example of transient cookies. These store a so-called session ID that enables the different requests made by your browser to be allocated to the shared session. They enable your computer to be recognized when you return to our website. The session cookies are deleted when you log off or close your browser.

    b) Persistent cookies are automatically deleted after a specific length of time, which can vary depending on the cookie used. You can use the security settings of your browser to delete these cookies at any time.

You can configure your browser settings according to your wishes, for example by accepting third-party cookies or rejecting all cookies. You should be aware that by doing so, you may not be able to make full use of all of the functions of this website. We use cookies to be able to identify you in the case of future visits to our website. We also recommend that you manually delete your cookies and your browser history on a regular basis.

A list of all cookies used as well as an explanation of the purpose of each cookie used can be found in our cookie overview.

    Use of the blog functions

You can write public comments in our blog, in which we publish various articles on topics concerning our activities. Your comment will be published alongside the article with your specified username. We recommend that you use a pseudonym instead of your actual name. You are required to provide your username and e-mail address; the provision of all other information is voluntary. When you submit a comment, we continue to save your IP address and delete it after a week. We save your IP address so that we can defend ourselves against liability claims in the case of publication of illegal content. We require your e-mail address so that we can contact you if a third party complains that your comment is unlawful. The legal bases for this are Article 6 paragraph 1 sentence 1 lit. b and f GDPR. Comments are not checked before publication. We reserve the right to delete comments if third parties complain that they are unlawful.

    Download form

The website offers you the option of using additional functions and services. These functions and services include e-books, white papers that can be downloaded for free and registration for a webinar, trade fair or similar event. We save your details provided in the enquiry form and your contact details in order to process your enquiry, to contact you as requested and in case any subsequent questions arise. Our newsletter

You can provide us with your consent to send you our newsletter, which we use to inform you about our current interesting products and services. The services advertised in this newsletter are specified in the declaration of consent.

When you sign up to receive our newsletter, we use the so-called double opt-in method. This means that once you have submitted your e-mail address during the registration process, we send a confirmation e-mail to the e-mail address provided in which we ask you to confirm that you want to receive the newsletter. If you do not confirm your registration within 24 hours, your information will be blocked and automatically deleted after a month. We also store the IP addresses used and the times of your registration and confirmation. We do so in order to be able to provide evidence of your registration and, where applicable, to explain any possible misuse of your personal data.

The only information that you are required to provide in order to be sent the newsletter is your e-mail address. Once you have confirmed your registration, we will store your e-mail address in order to send you our newsletter. The legal basis for this is Article 6 paragraph 1 sentence 1 lit. a GDPR.

You can withdraw your consent to being sent the newsletter and cancel your subscription at any time by clicking on the link provided in each newsletter e-mail, sending an e-mail to datenschutz@phocus-direct.de or sending a message to the contact details specified in the Legal Notice.

Please note that your user behavior is evaluated when we send you the newsletter. For this evaluation, the e-mails sent contain so-called web beacons, also known as tracking pixels, which are 1x1 pixel image files that are saved on our website. To carry out the evaluations, we link the data provided and the web beacons with your e-mail address and an individual ID. Links in our newsletter also contain this ID. We use the data acquired to create a user profile that allows us to customize our newsletter to suit your individual interests. When you read our newsletter, we record the links that you click on in this newsletter and use them to determine your personal interests. We link these data with your activities on our website.

You can object to this tracking at any time by clicking on the separate link provided in each e-mail or informing us via other means of contact. The information will be stored for the duration of your newsletter subscription. When you stop receiving the newsletter, your data will be erased within one month provided that the erasure of the data does not conflict with any statutory obligations to retain data.

Such tracking is also not possible if you have deactivated the display of images in your e-mail program as standard. In this case, you will not be able to see the newsletter in full and may not be able to use all of its functions. If you manually choose to display the images, the tracking specified above will be activated.

    Use of Google Analytics

This website uses Google Analytics, a web analytics service provided by Google Inc. ("Google"). Google Analytics uses so-called "cookies", text files that are saved on your computer and enable the analysis of your use of the website. The information generated by the cookie about your use of this website is normally transmitted to and stored on a Google server in the USA. If the anonymization function for IP addresses is activated on this website, Google will, however, abbreviate your IP address before transmitting this information within member states of the European Union or in other contractual states of the Agreement on the European Economic Area. Your full IP address will only be transmitted to a Google server in the USA and abbreviated on this server in exceptional cases. On behalf of the operator of this website, Google will use this information for the purpose of evaluating your use of the website, compiling reports on website activities and providing further services connected to use of the website and the Internet to the website operator.

The IP address transmitted from your browser within the scope of Google Analytics will not be combined with other Google data.

You can prevent the storage of cookies by using the corresponding setting of your browser software. Please note, however, that doing so may prevent you from being able to fully use all functions of this website. Furthermore, you can prevent data generated by the cookie and relating to your use of the website (including your IP address) from being collected and processed by Google by downloading and installing the browser plugin available via the following link: https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout?hl=en.

As an alternative to the browser add-on or when using browsers on mobile devices, please click on this link to prevent the collection of data on this website by Google Analytics in the future. When you click on the link, an opt-out cookie will be stored on your device. If you delete your cookies, you will need to click on this link again.

Inclusion of third-party services and content

It may occur that third-party content such as YouTube videos, map data from Google Maps, RSS feeds or graphics from other websites are included on this website. In these cases, the providers of this content (hereinafter referred to as “third-party providers”) must be able to access users' IP addresses. Without an IP address, they are unable to send the content to the browser of the user in question. IP addresses are therefore required in order to display this content to users. We strive to only use content in cases in which the providers responsible solely use IP addresses in order to provide the content in question. We do not, however, have any influence on whether third-party providers use IP addresses for other purposes such as gathering statistics.

    Use of social plugins

We use so-called social plugins from various social networks on our website.

When doing so, we use the so-called two-click solution. This means that when you visit our page, no personal data are initially disclosed to the providers of the plugins. You can identify the provider of a plugin by looking at the marking in the box above its initial letter or the logo. We offer you the opportunity to use the button to communicate directly with the provider of the plugin. The plugin provider will only receive the information that you have accessed the corresponding page on our website when you activate the marked field by clicking on it. It will also be provided with the data specified in this Privacy Policy. In the case of Facebook, the respective providers in Germany state that IP addresses are anonymized immediately after being collected. When you activate the plugin, your personal data will be transmitted to the respective plugin provider, where it will be stored (in the USA in the case of American providers). Given that plugin providers particularly use cookies to collect data, we recommend that you use your browser's security settings to delete all cookies before clicking on the greyed-out box.

We have no influence on the data collected and the data processing methods used and are also unaware of the full extent of the data collection activities, the purposes of the data processing or the storage periods. We also have no information on the erasure of the data collected by the plugin providers.

The plugin providers store the personal data collected about you as a user profile and use them for the purposes of advertising, market research and/or the needs-based design of its website. The evaluation of the data is mainly (also in the case of users who are not logged in) carried out in order to show needs-based advertising and to inform other users of the social network about your activities on our website. You have the right to object to the creation of these user profiles but must contact the respective plugin provider in order to exercise this right. We use the plugins to offer you the opportunity to interact with social networks and other users so that we can improve our website and make it more interesting for you as a user. The legal basis for the use of the plugins is Article 6 paragraph 1 sentence 1 lit. f GDPR.

The data transfer occurs irrespective of whether you have an account with the plugin provider and are logged into its service. If you are logged into an account with the plugin provider, your personal data collected on our website will be directly associated with your account with the plugin provider. When you click on the activated button and, for example, link the web page, the plugin provider will also save this information in your user account and publicly share it with your contacts. We recommend that you regularly log out of your account after using a social network, especially before activating the button. By doing so, you can avoid your data being associated with your profile with the plugin provider.

You can find more information on the purpose and scope of the collection and processing of data by the plugin providers in the privacy policies of these providers listed below. These policies also provide further information on your rights concerning this issue and the settings that you can use to protect your privacy.
